Introduction to Ayurveda (Non-Credited Course)

Ayurveda is an East Indian ancient healing practice that has been in use of over 5000 years. The word “Ayurveda” means ‘Science of Life”. The “Life of the person and its Environment” The uniqueness of this ancient teaching is not to treat the disease but to understand the dis-ease of body and mind. Ayurveda looks at an Individual and the Universe as one. Our Universe / environment (life forces out side of us) is made up of the 5 elements; Air, Fire, Water, Earth & Ether which contributes greatly to our physical, mental and emotional state. Living in a harmonious energetic field with the elements from Universe; our energies are intertwined and distributed within our bodies into 3 governing constitutions called “Dosha”. The three dosha’s are Pitta, Vata and Kapha. Doshas are known as the governing factor that determines our past and present physical, mental state, and emotional state. The primary goal of Ayurveda is to bring "Balance" to the individual and his/her environment. Some of the basic science Ayurveda teaching is keeping a daily routine of yoga exercise, proper nutrition according to dosha, rest, meditation, massage, seasonal detoxification process and rejuvenation treatments.

Abhyanga & Garshana (Non-Credited Course)

Ayurvedic oils are customized to balance the dosha of the individual, taking in consideration of the current season. A synchronized massage is performed by one or two therapist, using warm herbal oil to the constitution on the individual’s body.

Ayurvedic Head and Marma Point Massage (Non-Credited Course)

Purpose: Apply accupressure to energy points on the head to release mental stress and fatigue. Reduces insomina and depression. Massage also stimulates hair folicles, and promotes new growth. Nourishes the nervous system and reproduction of health blood cells.

Benefits

Marma Points are energy centers or passages of the head, neck, and face. When blocked, it causes stress dis-ease, dis-harmony between the junction points of the mind and body. Mama points massage with Ayurvedic oils according to your dosha (body type) and pathology are used to enhance total relaxation and rejuvenation, to restore balance between mind and body.

Shirodhara (Non-Credited Course)

Purpose: Synchronize the brain waves between the left and right hemispheres - to create balance, stability and deep relaxation in the body and mind at the conscious and sub-conscious level.

Ayurvedic Nutrition (Non-Credited Course)

In considering Ayruvedic principals, eating to your body type (Dosha) is an important aspect of an individual's Health and Wellness. Eating cretin foods that are likely not to digest properly, causes a build up of toxins and stagnant waste material in our digestive system. Eventually this causes blockage and malfunction of our digestive and organs causing discomfort and disease. Hence, proper well balanced nutritious meal with herbs and spices according to your dosha to support health digestion is vital.
